Undoubtedly one of Cairns’ major highlights – the Lagoon is a fun, safe and friendly environment for family and friends alike.
Start from City Place/the square in Lake Street (on the corner of Shields Street).
From the square, turn right down Shields Street (when facing the direction of the bus station)
Shields Street is home to the Cairns Historical Museum (on the corner of Lake and Shields) also PJ O’ Brien’s, a friendly Irish pub that offers cheap food and is seldom quiet!
Continue straight along Sheilds Street; after five to 10 minutes or so you will see the lagoon in front of you.
There are picnic, barbeque and kiosk amenities nearby, or, should you fancy something more substantial than ice cream, the 6km long esplanade offers many dining choices.
A visit to Cairns MUST include a visit to the Lagoon – great fun!
