All prices were correct at the time of publication. If you would like to swim, bring your swimming things with you. There are also barbecue facilities if you would like to have a picnic.
Start from Milton Station. (To reach Milton from Central Station, take the Ipswich Line (green) and get off at Milton, which is two stops away, after Roma Street Station.) Tickets are $3.50 (off peak).
The road in front is Caxton Street; there are two entrances along here – one to the picnic area, which is on the left, and one to the right on the corner, which is the entrance to the skate park.
Other facilities in the park include tennis courts, and a children’s playground named after Neal Macrossan, (1889-1955) a former judge who was President of the Playground and Recreation Association of Queensland in his later years. The picnic and barbeque facilities are free to use.

For those who art interested in art, architecture, or the origins of Catholicism in Brisbane, St Stephen’s Cathedral is the perfect place to visit.
Start from Central Station.
As you exit the station via the main entrance, turn right onto Ann Street and immediately turn left onto Edward Street.
Edward Street is host to some of Australia’s most renowned designers, including menswear stores, high-end fashion and, for those who need pampering after shopping, day spas!
Continue down Edward Street for about five minutes. Turn left onto Elizabeth Street (just after after Queen Street), you will soon see the cathedral on the other side of the road.
Mass is held daily, there are also tours of the chapel on Sundays between 9-11am, weekdays are at 10.30 (following mass).
If you’re after memorabilia, there is a small gift shop located at 143 Edward Street, which sells postcards, guide books, choral CDs and more.

The Police Station is around a 15-minute walk from the CBD – or, if you’re feeling lazy, it’s located right in from of Roma Street Station, which is one stop from Central on the Ipswich Line.
Start from Central Station.
As you exit the station via the main entrance, turn right onto Ann Street. Continue straight for around 10 minutes. Eventually you will see Roma Street branching off to the right, just after Albert Street. Turn right onto Roma Street. Continue down here for another 5-10 minutes. The Police Station is on the left-hand side of the road, and is pretty hard to miss as it’s so big – keep an eye out for Roma Street Station as it’s opposite.
Inside are a variety of things to see, mainly showing the generations of Australian police and highlighting the vast advances they have made in the last century. There is information on World War II, authentic uniforms, weapons, transport, photos, cabinets of unusual evidence, plus an unusual simulated ‘murder scene’ (which children seem to love) where you can have a go at solving the crime.
The museum itself is small but packed with everything you’d ever need to know about the Queensland Police Force – I must admit I was a little dubious whether this would keep me entertained for longer than 10 minutes, but most of it is pretty interesting.
