Abstract:
Ah, Parramatta: the place where the eels lie down...well, that's the Aboriginal translation - interesting concept...anyway, Parramatta - a.k.a 'cradle city' - is Australia's second oldest settlement, and is home to some of New South Wales finest and most important collections of colonial architecture - one thing its not short on is history! There's plenty of things to do and see here. This historical walking tour takes you through the highlights of this charming and suprising suburb. To make the most of the historical sites on this walk, aim to go on a Thursday during the day when all of the different locations noted should be open to the public.
